Ah- finally, China. I’m not sure what to think about visiting here and all the time I have planned to spend in this completely different world from that which us Westerners know. Sanya was kind of a good segway, I think. It’s mainly a beach town for Russian tourists (surprise) so, again, all the signage is in Chinese and Russian. All the locals who were badgering us for massages or to stop at their restaurant automatically assumed we were Russian– must be my resting bitch face.
We did find some cute dress shops but most of the stuff is catered to beachgoers: buckets and shovels, towels, bathing suits (with gigantic tops that I’m not sure WHO can fill out), luggage, sandals….kinda junky stuff. But I did get a cute dress for $4.50 so that is considered a win.
I also had a pretty decent fried rice with pineapple for lunch with a side of dumplings that were all pretty good. It was a short day for us though as walking about in the area they dropped us off was just too touristy and too Russian. At least the weather was great and it was a pleasant day to roam about.
