Leaving the mountains and the volcanoes behind, we headed to the beach! Tamarindo is the “bigger” touristy town on the coast. We were pleasantly surprised to find it not annoyingly touristy and a very quaint size where you can walk everywhere, there were loads of great restaurants, activities, and shopping. They had so many great boutique stores, but the merchandise was really expensive so we didn’t get much since we’re both on tight budgets!
Our Airbnb was ok. They were doing a lot of construction during our visit and it really affected our ability to enjoy the place. We couldn’t use the pool and the workers were there all the time, even on Saturday! I think next time I’d ideally stay closer to the center of town and not out quite as far, but it worked for us this trip.
These days were a great balance of beach time, food, yoga (for me, running for Shaina), naps, wine, movies, and relaxation! Did I mention the food? It was such a highlight of this trip! Fresh seafood everywhere!

Beautiful beaches of Tamarindo

Our favorite place for food and drink in Tamarindo was the El Mercadito Food Court! Healthy and affordable food options everywhere, live music on some nights, great bar and such a fun atmosphere. With so many different cuisine options, we were able to go many nights and have totally different food each time! We met some other female travelers while sitting at the boat bar and just had a great time chatting and enjoying our vacation time!
